Working Across Difference: Meeting Refugees in Crisis

A Mohonk Consultations Public Forum

Sunday, April 9, 2017, 3pm-6pm, New Paltz, New York

The forum will feature the following speakers:

  • İlgű Őzler, Director of SUNY’s Global Engagement Program in NYC, and President of the UN Association Mid-Hudson Valley, will discuss crisis points in the world and regionally where difference is fueling conflict and producing a refugee crisis, and where peacebuilding skills are needed to address difference.
  •  Giovanni Ciarlo, Academic Director & E-learning Coordinator of Gaia Education, will speak about solutions to accept and assist refugees.
  • Tara Stuart, world traveler, educator, story teller extraordinaire, and member of the Board of Directors, Kosmos Associates, will share a story of working across differences.

Another feature of the forum will be engagement in World Café roundtables, introduced by Dot Maver, a co-founding director of the National Peace Academy. The session will provide attendees with an opportunity to network and consider initiatives that can overcome difference and create solutions for refugees in crisis.
