US Youth Rising

Summer 2018

GYR TheaOnBLM cropYouth and young adults are often on the leading edge of creating positive transformations in our world. We are excited to announce an innovative pilot program designed to support these young leaders in deepening their skills and tools for peacebuilding.

Young leaders between the ages of 16-24 will be invited to join us for this special co-learning opportunity.

PPI3US Youth Rising will bring together young peacebuilders here in the U.S. working for racial, social, economic, and environmental justice and peaceful communities along with seasoned professionals working on these same issues - to share skills and resources, network, and support each other in this life-long work.

Together we will focus on ways to bridge our nation’s political and cultural divisions in order to transform systems of white supremacy, sexism, and all forms of hate- and fear-based ‘other’ism.

→ Summer 2018 (June 24-29, 2018)
→ Held simultaneously at 3 universities in California, Washington D.C. area, and Ohio
Keynote speakers and harvested learnings will be shared via videoconference at all sites
→ Workshops will be co-led by participants and seasoned professional peacebuilders
→ Youth and young adults – ages 16 to 24

Overview and Partners

DancingSingingUS Youth Rising is offered to young leaders looking to enhance their skills, resources, and practices for the grounding, relationship building, and learning needed to become effective peacebuilders in their communities and workplaces. Workshops will be co-led by participants and seasoned professional peacebuilders.

RacePeaceParticipants selected for the program will have demonstrated a desire to work in one or more of the many facets of peacebuilding and will commit to the development of an ongoing project to take home with them, which will then be supported by NPA and its partners. We envision young leaders attending who are engaged in work for such transformative movements and causes as Black Lives Matter, civil and human rights, LGBTQ rights, immigration rights, global climate change, and more – and who understand and find imperative the intersectionality of these issues towards building cultures of peace.

NPA in partnership with the School for Conflict Analysis and Resolution and it’s Point of View Peacebuilding conference Center, Middlebury Institute for International Studies at Monterey and its Center for Conflict Studies, Breaking Walls, the War Prevention Initiative, and others is excited to host US Youth Rising.

We will be providing scholarships to at least 50% of our participants.  Full cost of attending is $1,500/participant, inlcuiding room and board.  If you are excited about this program, please donate so that we may make it available to as many young people as possible.
